Workshop on home distillation of essential oils by A Wild Crops Farm

02/24/10

Programs and workshops by A Wild Crops Farm - Distillation for Home Use, Ozark Folk Center March 27

#1. Somewhere there is still a willingness in me to bake bread and celebrate life through cooking. Susan Bellsinger, Tina Marie Wilcox
Need inspiration to get you back in the herb groove???
#2. The Ozark Folk Center - is that, a center for us folks.
lbs and lbs of rosemary for hydro distillation. A long came a big storm and shut down the distillation, much to the dismay of all, including 100 Baptist Women visiting at the same time
They let us make an awful mess, spread herb from one end of the place to the next, bay leaves and rosemary everywhere, certainly anointed the spring.
We got help cleaning up our mess. THANK YOU!THERE WAS HERB FROM ONE END OF THAT PLACE TO THE OTHER!! I bet we get a prize for the messiest herbalist of all that have been there
#3. People who love herbs, love life, they are smart, creative, passionate, engage able and eager. Good grief - the spirit lives and I sure liked some of the people I met. Of course, there was no one I did not like, but one of my favorite was an older lady, mid - 60's who gave George a good "what for" when he started to explain about his bulbous pipette - "I had organic chemistry, and I know what that is." priceless!! There was also two ladies from MISSISSIPPI who were just awesome and I could go on. A wonderful community who came together for the weekend. Yahoo!!!!
Everyone joined in to help clean lbs and lbs of rosemary harvested from the garden of the Ozark Folk Center
#4. I don't care how passionate we are about sharing, there are limits to time. Bless George, he wanted everyone to walk out his two hour work shop and go make some essential oil - so much so, that he loaded it with two distillations, bay leaf and rosemary, a power point, and a hoped "hands on demo - make your own condenser, during the break. I truely love this man! We decided that we are going to do some two day workshops here at the wild crops farm.
George Frazier - Distillation work shop Ozark Folk Center
Two distillations and a power point, all going at once - see George work HARD!!!
That is the short scoop and I have to get the orders out today from being gone. But there is more to say.

In the off season, we own a certified organic wild crops farm in Missouri. We produce witch hazel hydrosol and work with other small farmers and forest land owners in building income resources from wild harvested plants and fruits. Non -timber forest products or special forest products. We teach distillation theory and assist people via workshops in building their own stills for home use.
